Legends of the Land Special Exhibit

Location: Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre

This exhibit shares how traditional knowledge and history were passed down from generation to generation through stories. Guests can experience storytelling, bold artwork, petroglyphs and pictographs showing the connection to the land of the Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) territory and the Lil̓wat7úl (Lil’wat Nation) territory.

The Coast Mountains: Recent Works by Edward Burtynsky

Gathered Leaves: Discoveries from the Drawings Vault

Location: Audain Art Museum

This landmark exhibition features rarely seen drawings from the National Gallery of Canada’s renowned Prints and Drawings collection. Established in 1921 as the first of its kind in Canada, it spans the 15th to 20th centuries and highlights masterpieces by Edgar Degas, Gustav Klimt, Edvard Munch, Marc Chagall, Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, alongside newly acquired and never-before-displayed works.

Use buckskin, beads and hide lacing to craft a handmade medicine bag! Traditionally, medicine bags were used hold medicinal herbs or treasures that provide protection for the wearer who may be on a spirit quest, hunting and gathering, journeying to neighbouring community, or everyday protection and reminders.

Make a wooden paddle rattle using pre-cut wood and copper beads. Pacific Northwest Coast First Nations rattles or shakers are instruments that are used in ceremonies, community songs or gifted to newborn babies to repel bad spirits.

The Whistler Cultural Pass provides access to the Audain Art Museum as well as the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre at a reduced price.

Please note that the Audain Art Museum is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre is closed on Mondays. Passes can be used up to 6 days after your reservation date.
