Q: What are you most looking forward to when the mountain opens for winter?

I’m most looking forward to some amazing days snowboarding on the mountain with my friends, learning new skills, fun afternoon après drinks and dancing, bluebird days – can’t wait!

For Alli, winter in Whistler isn’t just a season—it’s a celebration. With every run, every après, and every sunny day on the slopes, she embraces the adventure of a place that feels as thrilling as it did in childhood.

Q: For first-time visitors, what’s the one tip you’d give them?

Make sure you plan the important parts of your trip ahead of time so you don’t miss out (things can book up quickly) but leave some room for spontaneity and adventure!

Whistler is packed with unforgettable experiences. Ali’s advice? Book your key activities in advance (including dining), then let Whistler surprise you with its countless unexpected charms.

Q: What’s your top tip for making the most of Whistler’s winter season?

Come midweek, if you can, for less crowds. Try for early or late starts on the mountain if you want to miss the lift lines, enjoy some live music at après, go skating at Olympic Plaza, grab a hot beverage from a coffee shop and take a walk to enjoy the lit-up trees in Whistler Village.

Born and raised in Whistler, Ellie Krasny is the embodiment of local knowledge and mountain passion. After spending a few years away at university, Ellie couldn’t resist the magnetic pull back to her roots – the snow-dusted peaks, vibrant community and magnificent slopes that she’s called home since childhood.

Q: What is your favourite ski run and why is it special to you?

Peak to Creek, top to bottom, because it’s such a long run you really get in the groove and can fly down.

Peak to Creek is one of the longest continuous ski runs in North America at 11 kilometres long. Considered an intermediate run, you should be comfortable on your skis or snowboard to get down this run. You can access the Peak to Creek run from the top of the Peak Express Chair (always get the lift and terrain report at the beginning of your day).

Q: What are you most looking forward to when the mountain opens for Winter?

Having the winter buzz in Whistler! The fall is beautiful and mellow, but when Whistler Blackcomb opens the world comes to ski and that is just incredible.

From the buzz of the first snowfall to the electric energy on opening day, Ellie (like many locals) lives for that unique energy and thrill that comes to life in Whistler during the winter.

Q: If you could take visitors to one Whistler restaurant, where would it be and why?

Table 19 for Fondue! Because it is set just outside of the village it is a little quieter but has a great atmosphere and always great holiday decorations.

Q: What’s your top tip for making the most of Whistler’s winter season?

Suzi Roy

Since moving to Whistler this past spring, Suzi Roy has been on a mission to experience every magical corner of this mountain town. She shares her top tips for getting the most out of your trip; from cultural must-sees to scenic adventures beyond the village.

Q: For first-time visitors, what’s the one tip that could make their trip unforgettable?

Whistler Village is beautiful in the winter and it’s definitely the hub with the activities, dining and skiing centred around it. BUT, I’d suggest also exploring the wider Whistler Valley by taking a tour.

One way to get into the wider Whistler Valley is to take a tour. On a ziplining tour you zip from Cougar Mountain to Rainbow Mountain, you can go for a steak dinner at a rustic log cabin deep in the Callaghan Valley via snowmobile, or go Nordic with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Whistler Olympic Park.

Q: How do you recommend visitors experience the local culture and community?

I recommend seeing what events are happening when you’re here. It’s cool to be a part of the things happening that locals get excited for too. I also suggest going to the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre (SLCC). Learning about the history and culture of Whistler’s Indigenous peoples gives you another perspective of Whistler and adds a layer of understanding and connection.”

Check out the events calendar for the most up-to-date calendar of everything happening in Whistler, from art exhibits to craft nights, sporting events and movie showings. One event where there’s a mix of locals and visitors is the weekly Fire & Ice Show, where ski and board athletes soar through firey hoops at the base of Whistler Mountain.

Q: What are you most looking forward to when the mountain opens for Winter?

I’m looking forward to improving my skiing skills!

For anyone looking to level-up their skiing game consider booking a lesson, hiring a guide, or even trying out a backcountry or steeps course. After all, Whistler’s legendary terrain is the perfect classroom for all skill levels.

From cultural gems to hidden outdoor escapes, Suzi’s tips are all about creating a deeper, more personal connection with Whistler’s magic. Book your appointment to start planning.

Q: Which season in Whistler is your favourite, and what makes it stand out?

I prefer spring and summer. I love the dog walks to Whistler’s lakes, the stunning golf courses that I lose all my balls on and the fresh mountain view from the patio at the Longhorn.

It’s never too early to start planning your spring or summer trip to Whistler. From biking and hiking to patio days and pristine golf greens, there is no shortage of fun.

Q: Why Whistler?

I have been fortunate to live in a variety of tourist destinations during my backpacker days and I am forever grateful for my experiences and for the help I received from the local community in times when I found myself in a pickle. I guess it was a dream to someday settle down in a resort town, contribute to the local tourism economy, and position myself to pay-it-forward to the next wave of travellers that come to Whistler from all over the world to experience life to the fullest.

Looking to plan a large group or conference trip in Whistler? You can book an individual appointment with Justin to get planning.

Q: If you could take visitors to one Whistler restaurant, where would it be and why?

Southside Diner and/or Roland’s Pub. I’m more of a greasy spoon kind of guy, and these two spots are the best in town.
